Hallo Rooieterp,

Ik heb even voor je gegoogled en je kunt inderdaad beide aandoeningen tegelijkertijd hebben, helaas. Hier is een stukje wat Dr. Richard Lee, MD erover heeft geschreven:

"Alopecia areata and alopecia androgenetica (perhaps more commonly known as male pattern baldness or MPB) are two distinct and separate disorders of the hair. The pathogenesis of either entity is quite different from the other and it is not unusual for a patient to have both alopecia areata and MPB. As compared to MPB, which is related to the male sex hormones and is progressive, alopecia areata is related to an impaired immunological response and often has periods of spontaneous remission. Alopecia areata can involve facial hair (beard, mustache, etc.), which never occurs in MPB. And, alopecia areata does not miniaturize the hair follicles as MPB does."
