Ik hoop echt dat er een goed middel op de markt komt voor dat ik kaal wordt

Ik vraag me echt af hoe lang het duurt als alles optimaal verloopt... Hoelang deed fina erover om alle tests e.d. te doorlopen? Tiuri misschien enig idee?

Ik heb een tijdje geleden contact gezocht met Procter & Gamble in de US om te vragen hoe het zit met SHH. Na een heeeeeele lange tijd kreeg ik antwoord, en wel van de Nederlandse afdeling (in het Engels).

Verder geen nieuws over SHH tegen haaruitval. Wel is curis nu bezig met de phase 1 van SHH tegen de meest voorkomende vorm van huidkanker (Basal Cell Carcinoma). Ze hebben een tussentijds verslag uitgebracht, en dat klinkt toch niet helemaal positief:

The preliminary data from the dose-escalation segment suggest that the drug candidate appears likely to be safe, well tolerated, and has shown signs of activity. However, there has been less clinical activity observed to date than anticipated.

Ik vind het sowieso heel apart dat ze de moeite nemen om een tussentijds verslag uit te brengen van een trial terwijl het geen denderend nieuws is. Lijkt me niet echt verstandig van een beursgenoteerd bedrijf, maargoed. Dit hoeft trouwens niets te zeggen over de werking van SHH tegen haaruitval, dat is namelijk een heel ander molecuul. Bij kanker wordt SHH afgeremd, terwijl het bij haaruitval juist gestimuleerd moet worden. Daarbij zijn ze ook bij SHH tegen haaruitval nog maar in de eerste verkennende fase, en het zou dus kunnen dat het wel effectief zal zijn bij een andere dosering of een andere manier van toedienen.

Maar hoe dan ook zijn we denk ik allemaal er wel bij gebaat als het gewoon eventjes goed gaat met Curis en de andere middelen die ze aan het ontwikkelen zijn. Maargoed, nog even afwachten dus.

Curis Reaches First Preclinical Milestone in Hair Growth Program with Procter & Gamble CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 21, 2006--Curis, Inc. (NASDAQ: CRIS), a therapeutic drug development company, today announced that it has reached the first preclinical milestone in a hair growth program with Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals, a division of The Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE: PG). The program is focused upon the potential development of a topical Hedgehog agonist for hair growth disorders, such as male pattern baldness and female pattern hair loss. As part of the initial agreement signed in September of 2005, P&G agreed to pay Curis up to $2.8 million in preclinical milestones. The first of two preclinical milestones has now been successfully completed.

About the Procter & Gamble Curis Collaboration

In September 2005, Curis and Procter & Gamble entered into a research and development agreement to evaluate and develop potential treatments for hair growth disorders utilizing Curis' Hedgehog agonist technology. Future efforts may be expanded to address other skin disorders.

Under the terms of the agreement, Curis has granted P&G an exclusive, worldwide royalty-bearing license for the non-systemic, dermatological use of Curis' Hedgehog agonist technology, via topical administration. Curis will have an option to co-develop a development candidate through Phase II clinical trials, should an investigational new drug application be filed with the FDA. Curis has retained rights to certain non-systemic applications of the Hedgehog agonist technology, specifically for local cardiovascular and ex vivo use. Curis has also retained rights to veterinary applications of the technology, to which P&G has the first option to negotiate a commercial arrangement.

aargh! Hier svp niet posten als er niet echt nieuws is. Iedere keer als ik zie dat er in de SHH thread is gepost wordt ik een beetje blij en dan zijn het dit soort berichten.

Dus als ik het goed begrijp is het nu wachten op dat ze de juiste "formule/creme" aanbieden in samenwerking met P&G aan de fda waarvan bewezen is dat deze niet schadelijk is of dat je er tumors van krijgt.
En dan kan pas de eerste officieele testen en clinical trails phase 1 beginnen..,ze verwachten dat eind 2006..of in 2007..aldus de site.

Kleine Curis-update (van de corporate presentation op www.curis.com):



In de eerste helft van 2007 zullen ze dus de resultaten naar buiten brengen van de 2de preclinical trial, waarin ze een molecuul zullen selecteren die volgens hen het beste zal werken.

Dan moet er een Investigational New Drug-aanvraag worden gedaan bij de FDA (dit doen ze binnen 12 maanden), waarna de Phase 1 clinical trial kan beginnen. De Phase 1 zal dus niet eerder dan halverwege 2008 gestart worden, wat betekent dat het product niet voor 2012 op de markt is.

Hopelijk wordt het SHH-molecuul voor AGA een groter succes dan de molecuul die ze hebben geselecteerd voor het genezen van huidkanker, want dat stofje bleek in de Phase 1 minder goed te werken dan verwacht [bron]. De Phase 1 wordt trouwens binnenkort afgerond, ben benieuwd wat de precieze resultaten zullen zijn.

Maargoed, we zullen het hoe dan ook voorlopig eerder van NEOSH101 of TB4 moeten hebben, met een beetje geluk komt één van de twee of beide al wat eerder op de markt dan 2012.
