Now it's less than month for the operation. As instructed by Prohairclinic, I have now quit using Rogaine. My scalp is now in much better condition as it was when I was using Rogaine. That's really good, but does anyone know when the hair should start falling after quitting it?

Last week I have been worried about shock loss in both recipient and donor area. I have read that it is important to use minoxidil just right after the surgery and finasteride should be helpful too. I'm not using finasteride, so this makes me really worried...
Is this shock loss how common, has most of the people faced this after the hair transplant? After quick search, I found this web page regarding the shock loss: http://hairloss.iahrs.org/hair-trans...-loss/#more-43 Laatst gewijzigd door sim0oo; 27 juli 2009 om 09:47 |

I suppose you run a risk of some shock loss as well, since you still have hair in the area where you want the transplant. But you transplant densitiy will probably be less. Just make sure your hairs are as strong as can be before the procedure. Perhaps some supplements (MSM?), a daily massage, regular cold showers, .....

I have read on the instructions that no alcohol should be taken 2-7 days before the operation. Why every clinic has so different instructions? I just would like to have glass of wine with good food... Operation is on next week...

Finally it is over and I survived... I had 2000 grafts to the middle and 1900 to the front area. Dr. De Reys told that I have really good density on donor area. There were a lot of grafts with more than 4 hairs, so I'm hoping to get good result. I'm also starting to eat finasteride to get some growth on the crown area.
I have to say that the operation was not easy for me. On both days I did not felt any pain when Dr. De Reys was doing the harvesting or the slits. To be honest I did feel a little bit, but he was giving me more anesthetics and everything was ok so far... The beginning of the implating was also proceeding well, but on a some point I was feeling a pain only on the right side of the recipient area. Left side was ok in both days and I did not felt anything in there. But on the right side, there were areas where I basically felt every single touch and the pain was just like inserting needles under my scalp. I had more anesthetics many times in there, but it didn't help at all So the anesthetics didn't help but I managed the rest hours, even it was really difficult. I tried to watch movies, but I do not remember much of those because I was consentrating to the pain. Dr. De Reys told that I was bleeding really much and that might be the reason why the anesthetics didn't work on some part. He suggested me to check my blood levels, because it is not normal that bleeding does not stop. I will go to see my doctor after I have recovered from this, because it's a huge risk if I'm having a big accident and I'm just keep bleeding . At he moment I have no pain, but I have significant swelling on my face. I can only open my eyes a little bit. Yesterday when I was flying back to home, I was not wearing any protection to my head. I tried to use a cap, but because of the swelling, it looked just like a nutshell on a top of the football In overall I'm glad I did this and I'm hoping the result will be worth of all what I have experienced. I will post the pics soon, after I'm able to see something Laatst gewijzigd door sim0oo; 13 augustus 2009 om 13:34 |

headband...
you had to keep your headband on...
it was to prevent that the swelling goes down in the face also a ice-bag on the plane would slow down the swelling if you put it on your forehead/face , just dont use it on the ht zone when i did my ht in istanbul the clinic gave me this to cover it up , when i was walking in the city, and on the plane : http://static.marktnet.nl/adimg/2009...1-84x100-t.jpg the swelling was not so heavy like you discribe , but i wear a headband to prevent the swelling to go lower : http://www.vrocosport.nl/_clientfile.../hoofdband.jpg also the pressure in the plane can boost the swelling more , i did have this also... but it did not reach the eyes or lower part of the face... it could also be that i didnt have a icepack in the airport and airplane... and i was affraid of asking one in the airplane, sinds i dont want to take of my cap... where looking forward to take a look at your pictures (before ht , after ht , and the growing progress in a few months)

Hi sim0oo, man that's really a bloody mess. Nice hairline though but what's the density per cm2 ?
You have received 'just' 1900 grafts on the front area and I got 1200 grafts but your bald front area was 2,5x as large as mine ? Thanks Laatst gewijzigd door norwood2; 13 augustus 2009 om 21:42 |

Indeed. Reminds of the tv-serie "MASH".
It's looks allright. Seems like they created an conservative hairline. |

Today I'm looking much better than yesterday. I don't have swelling as much as yesterday and I was able to wash some dried blood away from donor area. I will keep posting to this forum and I'm trying to update the pictures to my blog daily Laatst gewijzigd door sim0oo; 14 augustus 2009 om 11:24 |
